Week of 11/26/18

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving break. Here's the plan for the week
Biology- Tuesday and Wednesday will be a mix of lecture and time to complete reinforcement worksheets on the topics covered. Thursday will be a jeopardy review and Friday will be our test day on organelles and transport processes.

Academic Biology. Tuesday will be Jeopardy review and Wednesday will be Test day on cell organelles and transport. Thursday we will introduce our new topic in lecture the cell cycle. Friday Lecture on the stages of the cell cycle and how to identify them.

AP Biology- Tuesday welcome back quiz on variations in reproduction and stages of development. Wednesday and Thursday Lecture on electromagnetic spectrum, why we see color and the light reaction of photosynthesis. Friday- set up lab on pigment extraction using chromatography.

Week of 11/12/18

Short week that will probably be short week thanks to the predicted snow for Thursday and Friday so this weeks plan is prone to change.,,,stay tuned.
Biology. Tuesday -cell worksheet time I will need the cell chart and fill in the blank yellow paper by Thursday.Wednesday finish off cell microscope lab. Thursday cell city worksheet Friday Quiz on cells microscope lab due.

Academic Bio- Tuesday intro lecture to transport processes. Wednesday worksheet on cells due end of class Thursday.Friday transport Quiz...?We will hold off on lab till next week when the weather looks better.

AP Bio- Monday lecture will focus on alternation of generation in plants and algae. Thursday lecture of alternation of generation in fungi. Friday review for test...scheduled for Monday. Test will include some on divisions with majority on variations in repro and development.

Week of 11/5 2018

This is confused week with lots of assemblies and drills that will disrupt class schedules.
Biology- Monday we will lecture on organelles in cells. Tuesday- no class Veteran's Day Program Wednesday-complete lecture on organelles and start lab on cells which will take the rest of the week. Quiz on organelles scheduled for Friday.

Academic Biology- This week will focus on identifying organelles and understanding their functions. Monday we will repeat Robert Hookes cork lab. Tuesday focus will be on plant cells we will have a variety of samples to observe and draw ranging from onions to potatoes and tomatoes. Wednesday no class for period 4. Others will continue with plant cells Thursday Human cheek cells will complete the lab samples on cells and time will be given for analysis questions. Labs are due Friday. Friday we will begin lecture on transport processes.

AP Bio. Monday quiz day on division processes. Tuesday and Wednesday- no class due to assemblies. Thursday- lecture on reproductive methods and patterns of development.

WEEK OF 10/29/18

BIOLOGY- Monday we will wrap up our organic topic with Jeopardy review in prep for Tuesdays Test Day. Wednesday well begin the 2nd marking period with a focus on cells. Lectures Wednesday Through Friday interspersed with a few worksheets along the way. Quiz this week is Thursday.
Academic Biology-Monday begins our work for the second marking period. We will focus on cells their structure and function. Monday through Thursday will be a mix of lecture and worksheets as we cover the organelles that keep cells alive. Quiz will be Thursday. Friday Plan on a lab involving microscopes and you guessed it cells.

AP Biology. Monday lecture intro to controls and stages of the cell cycle To be completed on Tuesday. Tuesday will also be a cell cycle identification activity which will be due Friday end of class. Academic Biology- We will finish off our artificial sweetener lab on Monday. Report due Tuesday. Tueday Quiz on notes up to carbs. Wednesday Lecture Lipids continue into Thursday with RS Butter wars. Friday Lecture nucleic acids and proteins.

AP Biology-Monday complete lecture on cytoskeleton. Tuesday Quiz on transport and cellular organelles. Wednesday Intro lecture to cell division. Thursday complete lecture and reinforcement worksheet cell fractionation lab due. Friday stages of cell division lab.

Biology- Guess what...it's test time! Tuesday we will jeopardy review properties of water and Bohr models. Test will be on Thursday because of Psat testing on the 10th. Friday we will introduce organic chem with a reading strategy that will be done in class.

Academic Biology- Tuesday will be our introductory lecture on Organic Chem. Wednesday PSAT Testing Thursday Lecture organic compounds essential for life...starting with sugars. Follow up RS and research on artificial sweeteners to be completed in class on Friday.

AP Biology- Tuesday double period lecture on cellular organelles, structure and their functions in cells. Wednesday we will complete lecture with time to complete review worksheet. Thursday Lab cell fractionation. Friday work day for Lab and review sheet

Biology- We will begin our week wit a continuation lecture of properties of water. Tuesday we will take what we have learned about water and attempt a lab that will allow us to see the properties in action. Wed- complete lab Thursday finish lab report and lecture on properties of water. Friday Rs Rivers on Rolaids due Monday.

Academic Bio- Monday and Tuesday will be a properties of water lab. Completed report due Wed. wed- lecture pH. Thur- Lab determining the pH of solutions. Friday work day to complete analysis and new RS Rivers on rolaids due for Monday.
AP Biology- We start our week with a tests on chapters 1-3...a 7 on the Bio meter. Tuesday lecture on the origin of life.organic research due. Wed- Coacervate lab. Thursday enzyme lab due. Intro to cellular structure and function lecture. Friday work day to complete Lab analysis and newly assigned cell research which will be due 9/28

Week of 9/10/18

Starting our week with a soggy Monday good news is since there are no windows in our science rooms we can't see how miserable it is outside.
Biology- Monday we will start our microscope lab working with a prepared insect part and a wet mount letter "e". Tuesday we will continue the lab with pond water samples. Completed lab report will be due Wednesday. Wednesday we will lecture history of the microscope and other tools used by scientists. Thursday will be Jeopardy review with our chapter 1 test scheduled for Friday.
Academic Biology- Monday we will look at living microorganisms in pond water there will be a little time to complete the lab Tuesday if you still need to completed reports due end of class Tuesday. we will also lecture a few additional tools used by biologists. Wednesday ws on the microscope. Thursday jeopardy review with chapter 1 test scheduled for Friday.

AP biology- Monday will be our first quiz of the year on properties of water second period will be for you to continue working on either the pH lab or the one on water potential both of which are due on Friday this week. Tuesday lecture intro to organic chem. Wednesday plastic identification lab. Report due next Wednesday 9/19.Thursday and Friday lecture 4 main organic compounds in living things. Ws Identifying organic molecules by formula.

Welcome back hope everyone had a nice labor day weekend. We had a great start last week lets keep it going...
Academic Biology- Tuesday complete lecture on characteristics of life WS Characteristics of life due wed. Wed.-Quiz will start class followed by a lecture on history of the microscope. Thursday hands on with compound microscopes. lecture/ interactive parts and what they do. Friday - microscope lab that will continue into next week.
AP Biology- Tuesday Lecture water potential verses osmotic pressure. Practice AP questions on properties of water due at end of class. Wed-set up water potential lab. Thursday read water potential results and run red cabbage lab. reports due 9/14.Friday graph and calculations for lab results.
General Biology- Tuesday activity on observations report due Wednesday. Wednesday Quiz to start class followed by intro lecture to characteristics of life. Thursday-complete characteristics of life lecture ws characteristics of life due Friday. Friday lecture history of the microscope/ parts of the microscope and how they are used.

AP Biology- This week will focus on Immunity and immunotherapy as a means of controlling cancer. Right now Test on virus bacteria and immunity is scheduled for Monday 4/23. Don't forget biointeractive on west Nile and virus research is due this week.
Academic Bio- We will complete lecvture on Human genetics Tuesday with sex linked and polygenic inheritance. We will close our topic with 2 RS that will be worked on in class Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday Jeopardy review and Friday Test day Human Genetics.

Week of 1/2/2018

AP Biology- we will be getting back into the groove of things with some work with Punnett squares Tuesday and Wednesday. They are all types we did in 10th grade so we will be moving quickly. Wednesday we will learn how to use the additive and product rules to solve a square without the square. Thursday Lecture and WS on gene mapping to be completed on Friday.

Biology. Welcome back worksheet on the electromagnetic spectrum due Wednesday. Wednesday-lecture pigment verses color and how our eye interprets color. Thursday- lecture leaf coloration and fall...followed by parts of a leaf. Friday Quiz and problems with the photosynthesis formula.

Bio II- We will spend the week using microscopes to identify a variety of Protists as part of our protest lab which will be due Monday 1/8
