Biology...
Sadly this week starts our last topic of the year, ecology.
Our focus will be on cycles in nature with a lab and work sheet due Tuesday end of class on the predator prey cycle.Wednesday we will look at the benefits of predation over starvation wiht a quiz planned for Thursday. Following the quiz we will look at survivorship curves and track life span patterns for huymans. Lab write up due Friday
AP Bio
We wrap up a month of evolution with review Monday and test Tuesday. Our exam is May 23 with the few days we have in betweeen we will cover random topics from immune system to dissection of sea stars.Stay tuned for updates.

Week of 4/22/13
Biology
This week we continue our study of pathogens with a focus on virus.
Monday- will be a full period lecture on the history of virus ,shapes and life cycles.
Tuesday-we will complete lecture and demonstrate the spread of virus in a short classroom activity. lab Report due Wednesday.
Wednesday-discussion wrap up and worksheet on virus
Thursday Jeopardy review
Friday will be test day on virus and bacteria.
AP Biology
We are still focused on evolution.
Monday- Activity and worksheet on evolution of behavior
Tuesday-A little bit of math will brighted our day with an introduction and practice problems using Hardy Weinberg.
Wednesday- a little more practice on HW this time with a fishy frequency lab. Its a good one- you get to eat the materials.
Thursday I'm feeling a Quiz up to HW info it won't be included.A new project will be assigned "look who's coming to dinner." You will have some class time to brainstorm and get your ideas together. oral presentations will begin Monday.

This week our focus will be bacteria.
Monday- Introductory lecture on the topic of bacteria Class will start with a lecture on classification of bacteria by shape and arrangement and finish up with microscopic examination of prepared slides to practice your naming skills.
Tuesday- Lecture on bacterial culturing followed by lab on growing bacteria on agar
Wednesday will be all lab. You will now try to control bacterial growth with products that claim to be antibacterial.
Thursday/ Friday depending on growth plate will be a combination of lab and lecture. there will be a bacterial quiz one of these 2 days and lab report will be due for Monday.
AP Biology
Monday will be lecture on Frontiers in biology. We will discuss, electophoresis, transgenic organisms and plasmids. We will end class with the punnett square worksheet in case there are any questions for tomorrows quiz.
Tuesday-We will start with a quiz on Punnett squares and if time permits lecture on Evolution will follow.

Biology
Hope you had a great break...40 more days to go. Our short week is perfect for completing our discussion on classification.
Wed- is lecture on cladistics. there is a worksheet to back up what you learn. Thursday we will finish those worksheets and review for our test on Thursday. Friday is test day.Be ready!

BIOLOGY,
This week will end our discussion of evolution. Our test is scheduled for Thursday. We will Jeopardy review Wednesday. The remainder of the week will be a series of activities to support our lecture topics. All lab reports will be due on Monday 3/25 and will be counted in next marking period.
AP Biology.
This week quiz will be Tuesday on Cell cycle and Meiosis. Monday we will introduce DNA replication in Lecture.Follow up lecture and activities for Wed-Friday will focus on transcription translation and the importance of protein in making us who we are.

week of March 11, 2013
Sorry to say we start our week with 2 days of lecture on our new topic ...evolution. The good news is Wed-Friday will be activities focusing on fossils and natural selection. Each lab write up is due the day after it is assigned. The activities are fun as well as educational. There will be a Quiz on Thursday and plan for next Wednesday as test day on evolution. Have a great week.
AP Bio. We will wrap up our respiration discussion be Tuesday with a short quiz on the topic Wednesday. Our new focus will be the cell cycle and meiosis. Finally some familiar ground. Following the Quiz we will work on a short activityon identifying the time for each stage of the cell cycle. we will wrap up the topic by the end of the week.

Wednesday- We will lecture/Intro to the next topic Evolution. This will be our focus for the remainder of the marking period.
Thursday- Todays Lecture will explore The development of Darwins Theory of Natural Selection
while comparing early theories of evolution with those of Charles Darwin.
