Biology. Short week this week with parent conferences on Monday....not to mention counting down to Thanksgiving break. We still have alot to cover on cells and cellular processes Our focus this week is Meiosis and the cell cycle. Tuesday- Lab simulation on the stasges of he cell cycle. With stage identification and calculation of time spent in phase. These are due Wednesday. Wednesday -Lecture "When the cell cycle goes wrong" followed by a reading strategy on cancer. Thursday-Lecture- Comparison of the cell cycle and Meiosis. Check cell cycle worksheets Friday-Lecture OOgenesis and spermatogenesis Monday -11/25 Jeopardy review of the cell cycle and meiosis Tuesday will be TEST DAY with makeups and assignment catchup on Wednesday. Biology Monday is the big day,,,Cell Portfolios are due. Remember they count as a test score! !0 points off for the first day late, 20 additional for the second. Projects will not be accepted after Wednesday.In class we will complete lecture on active transport and complete a RS on synthetic cells Tuesday- Quiz day on Transport processes. Wednesday Thursday-Discussion/ Introductory lecture on cell cycle. Worksheet on stage identification. Friday- RS cell cycle and cancer. AP Biology Monday- lecture introduction to classical genetics- followed by worksheet of practice problems. Tuesday- check worksheeet problems continue lecture going beyond Mendel Wednesday- Research cutting edge technology related to genetics.... research worksheet.Followed be class discussion of topics researched. Thursday Test day on DNA Replication and protein synthesis Friday-movie GATTACCA

Biology Monday- Reading Strategies on mitochondria. To be completed during class and handed in. Tuesday-Lecture all day introducing transport methods used by cells. Wednesday- Set up of Lab on osmosis... lab report due Thursday Thursday- Reacord lab results complete lecture on active transport. Friday-Quiz on transport processes.Reinforcement worksheet on active and passive transport. Hand in before you leave if not finished its homework. AP Bio will spend the week detailing DNA composition, replication processes, and steps involved in protein synthesis. Respiration

Biology- New week starts our next unit... The Cell Monday-Intro worksheet ...What I know about cells Tuesday- Lecture history of the cell Wednesday-Cell Time Line reasearch activity started in class completed as home as needed.It will become part of your cell portfolio Thursday-Lecture parts of cells-label animal cell diagram - complete study guide as we go. Friday-Most of my classes will be at the McBeth performance so 5the period will work on portfolio of cells AP Bio Time to start our most difficult topics of the year Photosynthesis and respiration. Monday will be lecture on the light dependent reaction. Please be sure to be accurate and detailed with you drawings. Begin working on the reinforcement worksheet. Biology Classes What a short week we have and so much to do! Tuesday - we will check your review sheets and get ready for our biochem chapter test. Wednesday- many of you will be taking thePSAT so those in class will have study time for Thursday's test. Thursday- Test Day...Good Luck! AP Biology Focus for the week will be photosynthesis it is one of the toughest topics of the year so get ready. Our days will be a mix of lecture and lab activities dealing with Light and food production in plants.

Week of September 30 2013

Biology We continue our Chemistry of life theme this week. Monday we will work to finish our properties of water lab.I'm pretty sure there won't be time during the class to complete analysis questions so you have some homework for Tuesday when the lab ios due. Tuesday in class lecture on pH with a worksheet to reinforce properties of water. Wednesday will start with a lecture on enzymes followed by a lab if we have time . The topic will be enzymes. Lab will continue onto Thursday with lab report due Friday.No quiz this week! AP Biology Monday will be a Quiz on cells followed by a lecture on cellular transport. There is a packet of worksheets on transport due for Wednesday Tuesday will be a lab on cellular fractionation with organelle identification. Wednesday will be cell wrap up with Jeopardy review on Thursday and test on Friday. Notebooks must be turned in to be graded on Thursday.
